It was so much fun shooting Nick Clifford after his stage cave course with Mauro Bordignon, Cave World. We had over 200,000 lumens of light to play with in some absolutely beautiful cave off the beaten path!! Hope to see you soon Nick, you did a great job for your first shoot!

Marking 3 years of collaboration with Bassline Drift and to many more years of teamwork with this group of people! Over 3 hours of placing light, waiting, modeling and all round having fun being creative. Big thanks to Marty O’ Farrell for the use of some BIG Big Blue lights/HID’s and your support with my work.
Inbetween some exciting projects with more exciting people in the next months look out for more of these compilations capturing some places around in a different light 🙂
Day two of dry caving with some cave exploration. Yesterday there was a lot of ground to cover and so we were split into smaller groups. Mauro and I took a look at a hole in the jungle floor that opened up into a cavern. We attached a ladder and climbed around 10m down. There were two large chambers separated by a collapse in the middle and one boasted a promising looking sump which Mauro scouted out on breath hold. I wriggled in and out of some smaller restrictions in the dry cave that had some airflow but were close out. It’s such an amazing feeling to enter a place no one has seen before …
Today I had the opportunity to get to go dry caving for the first time in Mexico. I shadowed a very experienced and fun group of dry cavers consisting of Peter Sprouse, Juan Laden, Joaquin Rivera, Carol Vesely and Scott Linn while they surveyed and checked out some sumps. Mauro Bordignon and David Dusekexplored some sumps already known to the group.
The cave is beautifully decorated and humbling … I enjoyed it so much I’m joining again tomorrow 😊
I am very excited to kick off my new collaboration with Mauro Bordignon and his company cave world with this moody dark short compilation of a spectacular dive playing with the reflections in this cave system.
Currently I am making a documentary on a new cave system ‘String of Pearls’ which is currently under exploration by Harry Gust and still growing!
It’s such an awesome place and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to shoot and document this cave.
This beauty is Cenote “First Timer” a cenote in the String of Pearls system! It hasn’t been visited since 2006. Harry attached a rope through the hole which you see top right and it was about a 5m descent to the floor. I then proceeded to get incredibly muddy and light the cave up for shooting some spectacular footage. I feel so fortunate to have spent the day in this amazing place with the bats!
Sebastien Kister‘s MNemo has been a game changer in Harry’s exploration and surveying of “String of Pearls”. It was really interesting to see it being put through it’s paces today and how fast and easy it is to use. Here is a short clip demonstrating just that …
If you are interested to find out more about the surveying tool check out Ariane’s Line and stay tuned for the documentary Harry and I are producing about this cave system which will include an in depth feature about device and it’s use in cave exploration.Film and post-production Katy Fraser
