Bassline Drift ‘Nature’ – OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO
This is the latest music video shot for Bassline Drift’s new single ‘Nature’.
Using two 15,000 lumen video lights at night and carefully selected material, the idea was to loosely depict the metamorphosis of a butterfly to create a visually pleasing sequence and story. Playing on reflection was the key to incorporating a butterfly theme that ties nicely in with the song title ‘nature’.
This shoot was a completely unique experience for me. It held lots of challenges as many times it went late into the night and working with material is a variable in itself! It was shot over four days at the amazing Diving Prestige Villa (www.divingprestige.com) earlier in the year. Although no special effects were used, the post production had to be meticulously done to produce not just an aesthetic motion picture, but also a piece that compliments both the flow of the music and weaves in music artists Keli and Sink.
SJ who was the model, assisted on my previous shoot with freediver and artist Naomi Gittoes who although could not be present has to be thanked for her huge role in the birth of these underwater music video shoots! I hope you can be here for the next 🙂 SJ is not a professional freediver but never the less did an amazing job with her perseverance in an extremely challenging role. It is no easy task to hold you breath upside down whilst manipulating your body and materials in an elegant and beautiful way! We spent many nights stitching material, practising in our little roof pool, freezing our butts off and laughing into the early hours trying to get the shots picture perfect. A big thank your for your invaluable role in the creation of this film.
Keli and Rachel throughout the editing were thoroughly engaged and involved. Their constant excitement and great creative input definitely helped to mould the film into what you see here. It is so amazing to be able to combine passions in our unlikely, unique, little collaboration and I can’t wait to do more work with you guys, you have become an invaluable part of my post production in all areas of my filming.
It was shot with a Panasonic GH4 with a 17-35mm lens in a Nauticam Housing and 2 x 15,000 Bigblue Dive Lights – USA Headquarters

Running in tandem with the cave and technical diving projects I am involved with, is an exciting underwater creative performance arts project with Australian free diver and artist Naomi Gittoes.
Here is a sneak peak behind the scenes of what we got up to! – Music by CloZee
In August 2015 I began to shoot an official music video for an up and coming music group called Baseline Drift and their song ‘Drink the Water Down’. This was a totally different area for me and it was so much fun to shoot in the cenotes with huge lengths of red material and lots of weird and wonderful props. The film is set for release in Feb 2015, I really hope it marks the start of more projects like this one!
