Kantunchi Dry caving and Survey

Final Day of dry caving … for now! OsamaDavide and I teamed up to explore and survey part of Kantun Chi whilst Peter, Angelica and Juan did another section. It was very small and crawly and 99% sump. It was Davide’s first time dry caving and hats off … we spent a long time in the cave and connected to a separate entrance.

Beautiful 3 hour DPV stage cave dive in Cenote Otoch-Ha today with MauroCave World … It kind of reminded me a bit of Super Mario Kart – Rainbow Road  #princesspeach #donkeykong #goprohero6#lightmonkeylights #fourthelement #santidiving #xdeep #bigbluelights#halcyondivesystems #suex #dpvcave #cavediving

I am very excited to kick off my new collaboration with Mauro Bordignon and his company cave world with this moody dark short compilation of a spectacular dive playing with the reflections in this cave system.

I had so much fun trying out my new Light Monkey canister light and playing with the Suex DPVs (thank you Osama) … See if you can spot who is who

Cenote “First Timer”

Currently I am making a documentary on a new cave system ‘String of Pearls’ which is currently under exploration by Harry Gust and still growing!

It’s such an awesome place and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to shoot and document this cave.

This beauty is Cenote “First Timer” a cenote in the String of Pearls system! It hasn’t been visited since 2006. Harry attached a rope through the hole which you see top right and it was about a 5m descent to the floor. I then proceeded to get incredibly muddy and light the cave up for shooting some spectacular footage. I feel so fortunate to have spent the day in this amazing place with the bats!

MNemo Demo

Sebastien Kister‘s MNemo has been a game changer in Harry’s exploration and surveying of “String of Pearls”. It was really interesting to see it being put through it’s paces today and how fast and easy it is to use. Here is a short clip demonstrating just that …
If you are interested to find out more about the surveying tool check out Ariane’s Line and stay tuned for the documentary Harry and I are producing about this cave system which will include an in depth feature about device and it’s use in cave exploration.Film and post-production Katy Fraser

Journey to the Lion City part I

So here we are! The first diary entry for my next exciting project …
In Feb I completed a TDI Mod 1 JJ CCR course with Matt Jevon. This is to prepare me to shoot Philip Gray on his next extreme art venture where he will paint China’s ‘Shi Cheng’ or the Lion City. This city is submerged in a fresh water lake, at 40m, with some buildings dating back 1000’s of years.
It is so beautifully preserved and I am very much looking forward capture Philip putting the City onto canvas and bringing it to life … Definitely will be a first!
Matt is in charge of the logistics and assembling the rest of the team comprising of safety divers for both Philip and myself, lighting, local logistics/translator and an on site technician.
I will be training in the UK, Ireland, Mexico and Egypt over the time leading up to the project.

Polar Pro ND4-PL Mavic pro filter review

Take a peak behind the scenes of last nights shoot for a Philip Gray Art project that will be announced later this week! Emily did an amazing job at her second go at modelling underwater. My life was made much easier with Yasmine positioning props and doing some lighting. Big thank you to Adriana for coming along to shoot behind the scenes on land and underwater.
It is also my pleasure to announce an exciting new collaboration with PolarPro who design and manufacture high end camera filters and accessories. I used one of their filters for the first time with my DJI MAVIC PRO and will be doing a series of review videos as I test out their products on my upcoming shoots! https://www.polarprofilters.com/
As always much love to Bassline Drift for providing me with a awesome custom track for the video.
